Oh Lord, You have searched me
You are no stranger to
the wordless thoughts
the dirty, unswept corners
the feeble workings of love
the great expanses of doubt and uncertainty.

In my nakedness You have known me
You ask me to trust.

The airplane lights blink on the evening sky
my heart leaps at the thought of
freedom
but it is momentary because
no man leaves his fear behind
as he soars off into the sunset
no man escapes himself

and those who are freest
are those who are lonely

because community means
commitment
and to love is to be bound.

Is there freedom in shackles?
Identity in giving up your own?
In vulnerability
letting go of control

being searched and known
adopted, brought in, renamed

Love perfected among us
because as He is
so are we in this world.

Abiding
Dwelling
Resting
In Him

A child is tossed into the air
delighted, laughing at her lack of control
because Daddy's arms are
so close.
